Franchise Opportunity Tops Businesses Sold in California

Franchise Opportunity Sells for 98% of Asking Price

I spoke with Joan Young today, a business broker at Sunbelt Business Brokers. She told me about a meal prep franchise that she helped sell. The business is located in the Bay area. She said the success of the sale was due to three main ingredients. It was part excellent location, part having a large potential customer base of working moms, and the the customer service offered by the owners.

The sellers bought the franchise new and in just a year the adjusted net income was $160k. Not only that, she said that everyone in the business worked part-time. The two owners put in 20-25 hours each a week.

Most food businesses are very demanding with long hours. With this business, the owners can plan exactly how much food is needed. People come to the business to prepare meals to freeze and then bake at home. Groups sign up in advance to come in for shifts. The cost of food is paid up-front.

The new owners are three women including a mother-daughter team. Read the press release about this franchise opportunity.

The franchise was one of 371 California businesses sold by business owners of small businesses, business brokers, & real estate agents for the week of January 22, 2007 through January 28, 2007.

California businesses sold, including this franchise business opportunity, listed by County include:

Alameda County: 10, Amador County: 1, Butte County: 2, Contra Costa County: 13, Fresno County: 5, Kern County: 15, Lake County: 1, Los Angeles County: 77, Marin County: 5, Merced County: 2, Nevada County: 4, Orange County: 69, Placer County: 5, Riverside County: 16, Sacramento County: 10, San Bernardino County: 22, San Diego County: 25, San Francisco County: 8, San Joaquin County: 3, San Luis Obispo County: 7, San Mateo County: 5, Santa Barbara County: 2, Santa Clara County: 28, Santa Cruz County: 4, Sierra County: 1, Siskiyou County: 1, Solano County: 5, Sonoma County: 9, Stanislaus County: 5, Tuolumne County: 1, Ventura County: 1, Yolo County: 1.
