Small Business California shows health care and technical/vocational training as the biggest concerns.
Small Business California is a proactive, non-partisan business advocate who supports California’s 1,137,584 small businesses. They conducted a survey and got 420 responses from small business owners.
From the results it looks like the biggest priority is to expand opportunities for vocational and technical training (76% say top or high priority), and the rising cost of health care (89% say it is a top or high priority). 69% offer health insurance to their employees.
Most thought the
overall business economy is fair to good, but were less optimistic for small businesses. They rated the
small business economy as poor to fair. They were almost tied when rating if they thought things would improve or get worse. Perhaps that means things will probably stay the same. Is this another word for resigned and cynical??
As for the respondents, most are Presidents of a C or S Corp, Republican, white males who live in San Fransisco County.
Small Business California Initiatives
Small Business California is sponsoring two bills AB 1694 [LaMalfa] which deals with return to work policy and SB869[Ridley Thomas] which deals with workers compensation fraud.
"One big disappointment was that we did not get introduced a bill that would allow most small business owners who have a 125 plan to be able to take the same tax break for themselves that their employees enjoy. This even though we pay for them, administer them and under the Governors and Speaker Nunez health proposals will be required to buy them. This is just not right and small businesses around the state should be outraged."
