What does 2008 hold for the Successful Entrepreneur?
• There will be change, and some confusion in the marketplace.
• Gas prices are likely to rise, but moderately in an election year.
• There won’t be any new taxes for an entrepreneur in an election year.
• Credit will still be available to establish and improve small businesses in California. It is known that small business drives the state economy.
The quality of the successful entrepreneur is tested by a downturn of the economy. It is necessary to change the operating basis to suit the times. If you ended 2007 with entrepreneur profit, congratulate yourself. Do you have loyal customers and loyal employees and do you know exactly what they want and need from you? If so, reinforce this strength. Build on these relationships. There is much in common between Darwin’s theory of evolution and the survival of the fittest in the California small business community. There is, however, one significant difference. Surviving businesses know how to work with, rather than against, others. Working together with your customers, your employees, and the community will help secure your business.
If you can embrace rather than resist the necessary changes ahead, 2008 could be your best year of opportunity: the year when you come out on the other end of the market correction with a larger piece of the pie.
