The Future Of The Coin Or Coinless - Laundry

Chuck Post

Contributed by Chuck Post

As we begin to look further ahead at our industry, we should look very closely at the new and continuing challenges that face our business. Certainly water and other utilities are our largest problem. So, assuming your lease is good (15 plus years) and your market area is sound, the next and possibly most important place to look is the efficiency of your operation and, more specifically, your equipment.

We are currently in the process of doing a full re-tool on a laundry of 3,400 Square Feet. The laundry is well situated. The market area is good and the competing laundries in the area are worn out with inefficient equipment. So, the question I always ask, when taking on a new project is, how do I set this laundry apart from the competition? How do I advantage it?

Fortunately, some interesting developments have been taking place in the area of efficiency. The laundry of the future is available today. This is a laundry that is capable of operating at 15% Utility costs. The time for doing wash, dry and fold is reduced to under an hour. The programming system offers the capability of promoting the business through the system and will even allow for a free dry, without risk of non-wash customers getting a free ride.

These new advantages are directing our industry to new heights. This is something that your customers can’t get; even at home. These new machines use new technology to give a higher quality wash with a fraction of the water. Your customers can wash-dry & fold their wash in less than an hour; allowing more time for their families and activities. As a business that relies on convenience, that’s convenient.

The laundry business is a good business, for as long as people wash their clothes.

Learn more by attending one of our upcoming Laundry Buyers Workshops. They are free and intended to assist serious investors in understanding their anticipated new business.

Very interesting.. I agree that it is key to better utilize energy our resources more efficiently; especially in the laundry business with the use of electricity and water etc. Good luck to you with your business endeavors.
