California business for sale transactions for this September are up over the previous September, making it eight out of nine months this year that business for sale transactions have been up year over year it was reported by the BizBen Index. The number of transactions completed in the month of September this year reached 1,308 compared to the 1,149 of 2016. The 1,308 completed transactions represent a 15% increase from the total sold last September, and so far this year sales are up a total of 12% over last year.
"I think what we are seeing with the increase in small business for sale transactions this month, and this year in general, is that the economy, specifically in California, continues to improve." said Peter Siegel, MBA, Founder and President of BizBen.com, parent of the BizBen Index.
Siegel explained, "The improving economy has given both small business owners and buyers a reason to get deals done. We've had 72 straight months of job growth and unemployment is at 5%. When people feel the economy is strong they are more apt to make large financial decisions."
Other reasons for the improved sales rate, according to Siegel, are easier access to business purchase loans from both SBA-backed and non-SBA lenders.
"Unless the economy falls off a cliff in the next three months I predict will see a record number of business for sale transactions take place in 2016."
