California Small Business For Sale Deals Sets October Record Pace BizBen Index


October Small Business Sales Stats California

California business for sale transactions continue on their record setting pace. Deals are up again in October and that makes it nine out of 10 months this year that business for sale transactions have been up year over year it was reported by the BizBen Index. The number of transactions completed in the month of October this year reached 1,448 compared to the 1,366 of 2015. The 1,448 completed transactions also represents a 10% increase from the total sold last month, and so far this year sales are up 11% over last year.

"With each and every positive report on the economy that we see, we also see an increase in small business for sale transactions." said Peter Siegel, MBA, Founder and President of BizBen.com, parent of the BizBen Index.

Siegel explained, "When the economy improves people have the confidence to make big purchases. Whether it's a car, a house or a business, if people feel secure financially the are willing to make investments they night not otherwise make during an economic downturn."

Other reasons for the improved sales rate, according to Siegel, are easier access to business purchase loans from both SBA-backed and non-SBA lenders, as well as low interest rates which make borrowing money cheap.

Siegel also noted, "An improving economy and access to cheap money always makes for a favorable environment to complete large financial transactions."

Larger Counties With Improved Sales

Among large California Counties reporting growth in the sale of small and mid-market businesses last month are Los Angeles County with 380 transactions, Orange County posting 152 completed business transfers last month and San Bernardino County with a rate of sales increase of 54% from 89 sales last month vs. 54 the previous year.
