This business is in the third year of a renewable 3-year contract to deliver and pickup packages in the contracted service area. FedEx requires a monthly report of the maintenance and repair conducted on each truck. These reports are available for review during the Due Diligence Inspection.
The Owner and the Manager adjust the daily loads, moving packages on an overloaded truck to an adjacent truck with fewer packages. The Owner or the Manager also arrange for typical maintenance, interview prospective drivers and takes calls throughout the day from the facility or the drivers. Trucks leave the facility around 8:30am. Drivers utilize rented FedEx scanners which keep track of road hours, times of each delivery, route mileage and the driver's pre- and post- inspections. After the trucks leave the facility, the Owner returns to his home office and remains available for questions, etc. from his drivers and/or the facility.
Actual owner hours in the facility are approximately 2-3 hours Monday through Saturday with the balance of the workday accomplished at his home office.
The Owner is looking for an experienced businessman who can analyze the logics of the business, keep good maintenance records, handle payroll, and quickly solve any issues that impact the proficient delivery of the packages.
The Contracted service area grows year year partially due to increased internet and business customers. Businesses can also expand through territory exchanges with other contractors and/or acquisitions of territory offered by FedEx. The contractor receives payment for each stop, pickup and delivery done each workday (Monday through Friday-Ground and Tuesday through Saturday-Home Delivery. The Contractor also receives income specified as a per-stop fuel surcharge, earned fees for branding the uniforms and trucks, an annual Service Charge paid in prorated weekly installments, a monthly Safety Incentive award and a monthly Customer Service Award.
