Description About This Posting: Niche Clothing Accessory Manufacturer
Forty-year old established niche clothing accessory manufacturing business is for sale. Potential for growth is unlimited. Owners are retiring.
We are the largest domestic manufacturer of our niche products. We have very unique designs, some of which are unmatched domestically and worldwide. Annual sales volume comes to approximately $3 million. We have an established network of customers. 80% of our sales are distributed domestically. The remainder is exported to countries such as: England, Canada, Australia, Japan, Russia, Sweden, Ireland, etc.
Our business currently employs between 40 and 44 people, including production, office, and management. The office now consists of the company manager, one salesperson, one customer service person, one administrative assistant, as well as one outside part-time accountant. Production consists of between 38 and 40 low-skilled workers.
Our production utilizes sophisticated machinery, most of which is custom-made. We have an established network of domestic and international suppliers for all required materials.
We currently occupy approximately 12,000 square feet of warehouse space, and roughly 1,100 square feet of informal office space. There is no need for formal office space because we conduct our business primarily over the telephone and internet. Infrequently we attend trade shows and do promotional mailings. A larger warehouse space of up to 20,000 square feet would be beneficial in reducing labor costs, streamlining production, and accelerating customer order deliveries.
We currently utilize distribution software that is 40 years old. Implementing new manufacturing software would therefore be beneficial, and would lead to inventory reduction and increase the bottom line.
We currently maintain our outdated retail website only to invite wholesale inquiries. So, while our website sales are presently insignificant, buyer could improve the online company profile to increase internet sales or otherwise expand business visibility online.
An ideal buyer would be someone who is innovative in product design, is capable of acquiring sophisticated manufacturing equipment to help reduce labor costs, and is a shrewd buyer domestically and abroad. This is a hands-on business.
Opportunities for a creative business person are endless.
